Position Scope

The Nuna Group of Companies is now accepting resumes for Journeyperson Welder with large earthworks construction / mining project experience.

 

We offer: 

  • 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotations; 12-hour days
  • Competitive hourly rates with Overtime Pay (1.5x),
  • Fly in and fly out.
  • Travel and accommodation provided.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW)
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
  • Mentor apprentices and support employee development and training.
  • Attends daily and weekly safety meetings and provides a safe work environment.
  • Daily documentation and correspondence between client and company on performance of crew and equipment as described in the applicable contract.
  • Ensure QAQC forms and red-line drawing packages are being completed properly and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure work orders are being filled out properly with quality information.
  • Must follow standard safety operating procedures.
  • Prioritize and schedule repairs in collaboration with operations and site supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and mine site policies.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Valid provincial Journeyman Welder Certificate (or Red Seal endorsement).
  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on metal fabrication and all-position welding experience on larger industrial heavy equipment used in the mining and earthworks industry; (Earthworks, Civil construction, and Mining).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in metallurgy, heat effects on metals, fit-up tolerances, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy materials (often 35–50 lbs), stand for long periods, and work in varied shop or field environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Eligible to work and reside in Canada.
